Technology incrementally improves all the time. Every 15-20 years, however, a disruptive technology comes and shakes things up. That is the kind of stuff that needs to be done if you want to make significant progress,” said CEO and founder of cloud security company, Zscaler, Jay Chaudhry at his keynote presentation at TiECon 2024 on May.1.
Zscaler was a disruptive idea he developed with support from TiE. “That idea started during my days at TiE. I had already built and sold four companies by then,” he recalled. “In 2007, I wanted to do something big.”
“I had seen complex hub-and-spoke systems and security fortresses at large enterprises. I reimagined security which had no room for firewalls and no room for VPNs. We became a switchboard, an exchange. We thought, any user, anywhere, should be able to access any application, anywhere over any network and any device. The Internet would become your corporate network. This was as disruptive as moving from DVD players to Netflix,” said Chaudhry to a packed audience.
