ZEE5’s “Koose Munisamy Veerappan” strikes global chord

ZEE5 Global’s latest docu-series, “Koose Munisamy Veerappan,” has captivated audiences worldwide, achieving an impressive 9.1 rating on IMDb within just two weeks of its release.

The six-episode-long series offers an immersive exploration into the life and escapades of the notorious forest bandit, Koose Munisamy Veerappan.

Narrated primarily by Veerappan himself, the series provides a deep dive into his enigmatic persona and criminal legacy. It traces Veerappan’s actions over three decades as he haunted the dense forests of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and parts of Kerala.

The series culminates in his dramatic encounter with the Special Task Force (STF). It effectively captures his criminal heritage, now etched into history and police archives, a statement by Zee5 said.

Archana Anand, chief business officer at ZEE5 Global, expressed delight at the series resonating with viewers, emphasizing the platform’s commitment to delivering differentiated content.

Journalist Nakkheeran Gopal highlighted the significant effort and risks involved in securing an interview with Veerappan, emphasising the documentary’s unique narrative style on the ZEE5 Global platform.

Producer Prabhavathi, from ‘Dheeran Productions,’ underscored the company’s mission to showcase local stories at a world-class standard. Following the success of “Koose Munusamy Veerappan,” a top-tier docu-series, Prabhavathi expressed confidence in witnessing a significant surge in the audience for the docu-series genre in India.
