ZEE5 Global, the world's largest streaming platform for South Asian content, is entering the horror-comedy genre with 'Kakuda'. Produced by RSVP and directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, known for hits like 'Zombivili' and 'Munjya’, the film stars Riteish Deshmukh, Sonakshi Sinha, and Saqib Saleem, and will premiere exclusively on ZEE5 Global.
Archana Anand, Chief Business Officer at ZEE5 Global, stated, "At ZEE5 Global, the rising popularity of horror comedies is a trend we're actively embracing. 'Kakuda' is a film set in Ratodi village, Mathura district, plagued by a curse where every house has a smaller door that must be opened every Tuesday at 7.15 pm to appease Kakuda, who punishes men failing to comply. The story delves into unraveling Kakuda's identity, the curse's origins, and the villagers' quest to break free from its grip.

Director Aditya Sarpotdar shared his enthusiasm for exploring the horror-comedy genre, stating, “I find it incredibly fascinating to explore the delicate balance between fear and laughter…with 'Kakuda', we've struck the right chord yet again."
He added, "I am thrilled to have worked with an exceptionally talented cast, including Riteish Deshmukh, Sonakshi Sinha, Saqib Saleem and Aasif Khan who have supported the narrative brilliantly by adding humour and emotions to the story. Their spotless comic timing and the way they portray genuine emotions have made my job as a director much easier… Can’t wait to drop the trailer of this film and see the reactions of the fans.”
