World Vegan Vision (WVV), in collaboration with the Consulate of India in New York, hosted a vibrant celebration of International Day of Yoga aboard the Skyline Cruise New York on June.2. The event offered a unique experience, showcasing the harmonious connection between mind, body, and spirit through engaging yoga sessions, captivating cultural performances, and a focus on community engagement.
The event commenced with a traditional welcome featuring dhol and shankh performances, setting the tone for a culturally rich celebration. Consul General Binaya Srikanta Pradhan and State Senator John Liu were honored guests, lending their presence to the occasion.
WVV President Rakesh Bhargav welcomed everyone, followed by remarks from WVV Founder HK Shah, who shared the organization's history and mission. Chandra Mehta, vice chairwoman, commended the event and celebrated WVV's achievements. Senator John Liu presented a citation to HK Shah, expressing his support for International Day of Yoga and WVV's future endeavors.
The Consul General later highlighted the significance of International Day of Yoga 2024, emphasizing the rich heritage of yoga and its profound impact on health and well-being.
The event culminated in a dynamic display of yoga asanas led by renowned instructors, including Poonam Gupta (Laughter Yoga), Anu Dronadula, Gurudev Deelip Ji, Juhi Mehta (Myntra Yoga), Swami Brahmanishtananda Saraswati, Priti Dhariwal, Geeta Patel, Annetta Zaltzberg, and Tripra Bhatt.
The celebration was further enriched by captivating cultural performances. Renowned choreographer Sonalee Vyas Jani led an interactive Bollywood Yoga session, seamlessly blending music and movement. Chetan Bhavsar enthralled the audience with a powerful dhol performance. Asif's enchanting vocals and energetic music by DJ UK Bolly (Umesh Patel) kept the vibrant atmosphere alive throughout the event.
Guests enjoyed a delectable vegan feast cooked by Bombay Express Caterers. Special recognition was given to the tireless efforts of dedicated volunteers Abha Devrajan, Mike Desai, Srinivas Nitturu, Minesh Mehta, and Anu Donadrula, whose contributions made the event a resounding success.
