Indian multinational IT firm, Wipro has announced the appointment of Malay Joshi as the chief executive officer (CEO) of Wipro Americas 1 Strategic Market Unit, effective immediately.
This comes after the former Americas 1 CEO Srini Pallia's appointment as the CEO and managing director of Wipro Limited on April 6. Malay Joshi's accession also entails his induction into the Wipro executive board, the firm said in a statement.
In the last 28 years at Wipro, Joshi has served in various roles including most recently as the senior vice president and business unit head for various pivotal industries within Wipro's global domain. Notably, he spearheaded the communications, media, technology, retail, travel, hospitality, and public sector segments.
Srini Pallia, CEO and managing director of Wipro Limited, lauded Joshi’s history of propelling enduring growth across diverse global enterprises. “Malay has been leading one of the largest business units at Wipro and has delivered the highest CAGR over a decade across multiple global businesses,” he said.
“His client centricity and deep understanding of the industry makes him an ideal fit to lead the Americas 1 strategic market. He is the perfect leader to take the helm of this fast-growing market and write its next chapter of our growth,” he added.
Joshi has a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology Engineering from Bangalore University. He has also completed executive programs at Harvard Business School and Stanford University.
Commenting on his appointment, Joshi underscored his steadfast commitment to harnessing technology to augment value for clients and communities alike. He also articulated his eagerness to lead a proficient team in a market brimming with potential.

Joshi will be based at Wipro’s New York City office, where he will continue to contribute to Wipro’s cultural fabric as a member of the Culture Council.
