Vivek Ramaswamy wants RNC’s fifth debate to be held on X

Ramaswamy said the virtual debate would attract young voters

Indian American presidential primary candidate Vivek Ramaswamy asked the Republican National Committee (RNC) to hold the fifth primary debate on X, formerly Twitter, instead of being aired on cable TV. According to him the virtual format will help the candidates reach out to a larger audience.

“This January GOP debate should be held on X, not on cable TV, moderated by Tucker [Carlson], who might just ask questions that primary voters actually care about,”  the 38-year-old biotech entrepreneur told the New York Post in an interview.

“They say they want to reach younger voters and new audiences? Well, that’s how you do it,” Ramaswamy, who has spoken about the importance of younger leadership in American politics, as well as the importance of instilling national pride in young citizens of the country, said.

The Indian American told the RNC that the current format is “boring” and does not attract young and new voters. The viewership of the RNC debates has declined since the first one in Milwaukee on August 23.

As per a report, 12.8 million viewers were tuned in to the first debate, the Simi Valley California debate on September 27 had 9.5 million viewers, and the most recent one in Miami had 7.51 viewers tuned in. The fourth debate is scheduled for December 6 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

At the third debate on November 8, Ramaswamy said the debates would get “ten times the viewership” if moderated by Carlson, Joe Rogan, and Elon Musk. Ramaswamy also asked for certain rules to be changed, including raising the unique donor threshold from 70,000 to 100,000 to eliminate poor performing candidates.
