Govindasamy Viswanathan, chancellor of the Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), a reputed engineering university in India, said that while India had lately improved a lot in the school education sector, the country’s government schools still require huge improvements.
Viswanathan made the comments after he received an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Binghamton University on May.12.
The university has recognized him for his contributions to international higher education and entrepreneurship. Under Viswanathan's leadership, VIT has grown into a premier institution serving over 88,000 students globally.
