SAN FRANCISCO, California — Amateur photographer Vivek Mehra had long dreamed of traveling to Antarctica, to capture the dramatic, magical beauty of a land to which few have traveled.

“I wanted to go there specifically to photograph landscapes, because a lot of the pictures that I'd seen were mostly of animals,” Mehra, a partner emeritus at August Capital, told New India Abroad. “And while I do like animals, whether it's penguins, whales, or seals, the landscapes seemed very unique. And I wanted to do a very specific trip focused on landscape images.”

“It turned out to be one of the most amazing trips that I've ever done,” said Mehra, who has taken similar adventures to very remote portions of Alaska, as well as the Chilean fjords. “I love these trips for their raw beauty, the starkness of their imagery.”
