The U.S.-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) issued a statement on Nov. 6 congratulating President-elect Donald J. Trump on his victory, making him the 47th President of the United States.

Donald Trump has reclaimed the US presidency after a four-year absence, signalling a return to his approach of prioritising US interests and assessing alliances based on the strength and alignment of other nations.

"Elections are the cornerstone of any democracy, and their successful conduct is a powerful reflection of the strength of a nation's democratic institutions," the statement read. "Both the United States and India are fortunate to have the right to vote enshrined in their constitutions, ensuring that citizens' voices are heard and that democracy continues to thrive."

The USISPF highlighted President Trump's commitment to prioritizing the Indo-Pacific region during his previous administration, describing it as the "preeminent focus for Washington's foreign policy, with the goal of securing a free and open Indo-Pacific." This focus, they noted, has led to a flourishing relationship between the U.S. and India, deepening cooperation in areas such as critical and emerging technologies, clean energy, supply chain resilience, defense, and people-to-people ties.

The organization expressed confidence that Trump’s new administration would "maintain the positive momentum in this critical relationship to secure the greatest economic, financial, and national security gains for both countries." Looking ahead, USISPF expressed eagerness to collaborate with the incoming administration in exploring new targets and innovative approaches to further strengthen the bilateral partnership between the two democracies.
