The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced that it received the required number of electronic registrations to meet the H-1B cap for the fiscal year (FY) 2025, which includes the advanced degree exemption.

USCIS has confirmed that random selections were conducted from the correctly submitted registrations to meet the H-1B cap. All prospective petitioners with selected beneficiaries have been notified and are now eligible to file an H-1B cap-subject petition, the office announced.

Registrants' online accounts will display one of the following statuses for each registration:

  • Submitted: The registration has been submitted and is eligible for selection. If the initial selection process has been completed, this registration remains eligible for subsequent selections in the fiscal year for which it was submitted, unless invalidated.
  • Selected: The registration has been chosen to file an H-1B cap petition.
  • Not Selected: The registration is not eligible to file an H-1B cap petition based on this registration.
  • Denied – Duplicate Registration: Multiple registrations were submitted for the same beneficiary by the same registrant, resulting in denial of all registrations for that beneficiary for the fiscal year.
  • Invalidated – Failed Payment: A registration was submitted, but the payment method was declined or otherwise invalid.
  • Deleted: The submitted registration has been deleted and is no longer eligible for selection.
  • Processing Submission: USCIS is processing the submission, and it may take up to 72 hours for all case information to appear on the details page. Access to the draft is unavailable during processing.

The period to submit H-1B cap-subject petitions for Fiscal Year 2025 began from Apr.1, 2024. Petitions can be filed at my.uscis.gov with the updated registration fee that also came into effect from Apr.1.
