U.S. university to hold memorial for Indian student

The Valparaiso University in Indianapolis will hold a memorial service on November 16 for an Indian student, who recently passed away after a stabbing incident.
Varun Raj Pucha, a student from Hyderabad at the University was attacked at a local gym and he died at the hospital, days after fighting for his life. The 24-year-old was stabbed in the head with a knife by suspect Jordan Andrade on October 29. His body is expected to return to Khammam, Telangana on November 17.
“A memorial service in honor of Varun Raj Pucha will be held on November 16 from 10–11 a.m. at the Chapel of the Resurrection. Varun was an important part of the Valpo family. This service allows us to come together in solidarity and mourn this tragic loss,” the university posted on X, formerly Twitter. Pucha was pursuing his master's degree in information technology at the University.
“All campus activities, including classes and practices, will be suspended during this time to allow our campus community the opportunity to attend the memorial service. An amended schedule has been emailed to students,” the university said in a statement.
To help his family with financial needs, the North America Telugu Society started a GoFundMe campaign. Over 2,500 donors raised US $95,089, at the time of writing.
As for the suspect, the Valparaiso Police Department said, "The investigation has identified Jordan Andrade, 24, of Porter Township as the suspect and he has been taken into custody on charges of Attempted Murder and Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon. Andrade is incarcerated at the Porter County Jail on these charges now."
