U.S. Ambassador to India, Eric Garcetti, captivated the audience during Diwali celebrations at the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi on Oct. 30.
Dressed in a traditional brown kurta and shades, Garcetti danced to the popular Bollywood song "Tauba Tauba" from Vicky Kaushal’s movie Bad Newz. The performance, which has since gone viral on social media, showcased the ambassador's embrace of Indian culture, with the crowd cheering him on.
The 53-year-old diplomat can be seen enjoying the moment, adding to his reputation for enjoying Bollywood-style festivities. This isn’t the first time Garcetti has shown his dance skills; last year, he performed "Chaiyya Chaiyya" during a similar event at the embassy.
Garcetti’s engagement in cultural celebrations reflects his deep connection to India since his appointment. Meanwhile, President Joe Biden hosted a Diwali event at the White House earlier this week, where more than 600 prominent Indian Americans, including Congressmen and corporate leaders, gathered to mark the festival.
In a statement on X, Garcetti described the celebration as "beautiful," adding, "As we celebrate the journey of light, we also honor the invaluable contributions of Indian Americans who deepen the U.S.-India bond."
