Former U.S. President and Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has claimed that Google CEO Sundar Pichai personally called him to praise his recent visit to a McDonald’s outlet in Pennsylvania.
Speaking on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Trump stated, “I actually got a call from Sundar... and he said, ‘Sir, what you did with McDonald’s was one of the single biggest events we’ve ever had at Google.’
Trump said his visit to the fast-food chain was more than a casual stop, asserting that the event attracted major public attention. He described the scene as drawing a large crowd and said it created a surge in online searches. “The crowd was crazy, the interest was huge,” Trump remarked.
In a humorous comparison, Trump also claimed he had worked behind the counter at McDonald’s for “15 minutes more” than Vice President Kamala Harris, who has previously mentioned her experience working at the chain during her youth. He used this comment to take a swipe at Harris, saying she had falsely claimed how long she worked at the fast-food restaurant.
Trump’s claims about Pichai's call come amid ongoing criticism of major tech companies, as the former president has repeatedly accused Google and others of manipulating online searches to undermine his presence during campaign rallies.
In addition to Pichai, Trump has mentioned receiving calls from other tech leaders, including Apple CEO Tim Cook and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, though details about those interactions remain unclear.
