The IndUS Entrepreneurs’ (TiE) New York chapter (TiE NY), which was founded in October 1998 recently celebrated its silver jubilee with a host of celebrations.
TiE global board of trustees member, Dharti Arvind Desai and TiE NY’s president, Manjusha Tipre, commenced the celebrations by ringing the opening bell at NASDAQ. Following that all members were invited to a cocktail party at the private client center of J.P. Morgan in NYC.
In conclusion, a silver anniversary gala was held at Conrad Downtown. The 1300 Tuesdays: TiE NY’s Silver Anniversary Event was themed “Celebrate. Nurture. Imagine.” Over 230 people attended the event to celebrate TiE NY’s accomplishments in the last 25 years.
Audience of over 230 people comprising of successful entrepreneurs, investors, mentors and start up founders from more than 7 countries, listening to a special virtual address by Desh Deshpande, global leader and philanthropist.
Sunil Madhu, founder of Unicorn and a charter member who continues to give back and pay forward to the community that supported him when he was a first-time entrepreneur, gave the keynote speech at the event. A panel discussion on the next 25 years of entrepreneurship featured leaders like Micheal Hund, Lata Setty, Lauren Foundos and Sara Hand.
The evening also included performances by the Sonalee Vyas Dance Academy, Columbia Sur and sitar and tabla players, Shraman Sen and Milan Ganatra. An awards ceremony was organised to honor the global leaders and sponsors who attended the event from across the globe.

Dilip Chauhan, the Deputy Commissioner from the NYC Mayor’s Office for International Affairs, presented Dharti, Manjusha, and the board with a citation from the office of New York City Mayor Eric Adams to TiE NY, which was a major highlight of the evening.
Chauhan articulated the early days of TiE and lauded the organization’s mentorship program for fostering NYC’s economic growth. He further outlined the mayor's initiatives to encourage entrepreneurship and about how his office and NYC Administration is going to help businesses to establish their presence in NYC.
On the occasion, Dharti said, ‘I salute the spirit of giving back of this global community and am very honored to have led the chapter for 3 years and chaired the TiE Women global progarm with more than 3000 women entrepreneurs impacted. We have miles to go and NY will continue to trailblaze in being a diverse, equitable and incusive community of entrepreneurs. Such occasions not only reinforce my commitment to the TiE ethos but also motivate me to do more!”
Manjusha added, “I am a first generation entrepreneur from a small town in India! I wish I had a TiE when I first started!
