The Sydney Indian Law Society (SILS), a student-run organization within Sydney Law School, recently hosted its inaugural annual keynote address to promote dialogue and collaboration between Australia and India.
Titled "Namaste Law: Annual SILS Keynote Address," the event featured an address by Australian former politician who was Australia’s High Commissioner to India, Barry O'Farrell on the future of the bilateral relationship between the two nations.
Apart from bilateral relations, the society aims to foster a multicultural community and offering vital career support and networking opportunities to its Indian origin members. According to a university release, SILS is set to launch a mentorship program in Semester 2 of 2024 offering invaluable guidance and insights to aid in making informed career decisions.
Ravi Prakash Vyas, founding president of SILS, expressed pride in the society's significant progress during its infancy. He said, “SILS advances Sydney Law School's deep rooted philosophy of enhancing education experience through cross-cultural teaching and learning," adding, "SILS is committed to foster and further student engagement through our activities.”
Driven by its mission to support students in their academic and professional journeys, SILS hosts a diverse array of social and career-focused events, encouraging students to engage in its vibrant community. From networking sessions to webinars and seminars featuring industry experts from Australia and India, SILS is committed to guiding students through the complexities of their career paths, the release added.
