Sriram Thiagarajan, executive vice president and chief technology officer of Ancestry, has been awarded the Corporate ORBIE Award for 2024. Ancestry, based in Utah, is a for-profit genealogy company, offering genealogical and genetic research services.
The award recognizes excellence in technology leadership for organizations with annual revenues up to $1 billion. It was presented during the National ORBIE Awards ceremony, held as part of Inspire Leadership Network’s Converge24 conference.
Thiagarajan has led the Ancestry’s technology strategy and product development since joining in 2017. His role encompasses a broad range of responsibilities, including architecture, data science, product analytics, platform engineering, cloud operations, cybersecurity, and corporate infrastructure.
Since his promotion to executive vice president in 2020, he has been instrumental in enhancing Ancestry’s customer experience through innovative software products and advanced technologies.
Before joining Ancestry, Thiagarajan served as senior vice president and chief information officer at Infoblox, where he managed IT and cybersecurity. His previous roles also include global head of IT and corporate engineering at Twitter, where he played a key role in preparing the company for its IPO.
He also served as vice president of payments infrastructure and corporate systems at Yahoo and held leadership positions at Verisign and Ernst & Young.
Thiagarajan’s recognition highlights his over 20 years of experience in technology leadership, during which he has consistently driven growth and innovation at Fortune 500 companies and venture-backed firms.
His academic background includes a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Florida Atlantic University and a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering from Anna University, India.
