The Georgia Composite Medical Board has appointed Indian-American cardiologist Sreeni R. Gangasani as its chairman. Gangasani has been a member of the board since 2021, previously serving as vice chair for the 2023-24 term.
A founding partner of the Cardiovascular Group in Gwinnett County, Metro Atlanta, Gangasani is board certified in cardiovascular disease, nuclear cardiology, heart failure, and transplantation. His extensive experience and leadership within the medical community have made him a notable figure in Georgia's healthcare landscape.
Beyond his clinical practice, Gangasani has held several leadership roles in professional organizations. He is the past president of the Georgia Association of Physicians of Indian Heritage (GAPI) and the vice chair of the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI). He chaired the AAPI conventions in Atlanta in 2019 and 2021 and the AAPI Global Health Summit in Hyderabad, India, from 2019 to 2020.
Dr. Gangasani was also recently elected to serve as chair of the board of trustees of GAPI for the 2024-25 term. He is currently the director of the GAPI Volunteer Clinic and an immediate past chair of its board of directors, ATMGUSA (Association of Telugu Medical Graduates of USA).
He graduated with honors from Kurnool Medical College at the University of Health Sciences and completed his internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship at William Beaumont Hospital in Michigan.
The Georgia Composite Medical Board is an independent state agency tasked with protecting the health of Georgians by regulating the practice of medicine. It licenses physicians and other healthcare professionals, investigates complaints, and enforces the Medical Practice Act.
