Skechers Inaugurates National Distribution Center in Maharashtra

Sketchers’ NDC in Mumbai plans to build up to a capacity of 7 million pairs annually

To cater to the Indian market, global footwear brand Skechers inaugurated Phase 1 of its new state-of-the-art National Distribution Center (NDC) in Palava City near Dombivli, Maharashtra. The company, known for its comfortable footwear, has over 400 retail stores, 1,300 multi-account accounts, and 2,000 distribution dealer points in India already.

Rahul Vira, CEO of Skechers South Asia, addressed the members during the opening ceremony in Maharashtra. Vira expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and emphasized the company's dedication to its vision for India, positioning the NDC as a crucial step in accommodating future growth. Vira said, “Like David and John mentioned, this is a testament to our dedication to the vision the company has for India, the plans we have for the future, and India's significance as a market. This is a very significant step the company has taken.”

The opening ceremony, held at the Lodha Industrial and Logistics Park in Palava, Mumbai, showcased the brand's commitment to sustainability and efficiency. The NDC plans to cover 1,000 square meters and build up to a capacity of 7 million pairs annually.

Vira emphasized in his speech the significance of investment, focusing on efficiently serving consumers in the future. Global Prime News released the video of the opening ceremony, where Vira ended on the note, “It's an amazing effort, and I feel very proud after looking at this. When we had come here initially, I know how the place was and how it has turned out. It's a dream come true.”

David Weinberg, Chief Operating Officer of Skechers, expressed confidence in the Indian market. Weinberg said, “At the forefront of India's thriving footwear industry, Skechers has experienced remarkable growth year after year. Our strategic collaborations with prominent Indian personalities such as Kriti Sanon, Ananya Panday, Mithali Raj, and other A-list celebrities and athletes have created impactful marketing moments.” Moreover, he revealed how the NDC was a deep investment in both the people of India and the company's flourishing business within the country’s vital market.
