Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman addressed a roundtable on investment opportunities in Indian at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) on October 20.
The roundtable was attended by US pension funds, investors, and fund managers.
Making a case for heavy investments in India, the minister noted initiatives like PM Gati Shakti, which leverages technology for infrastructure planning, and the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM), with US collaboration under the CHIPS Act, to boost India’s role in global supply chains.

She highlighted India’s rapid economic growth, positioning it to become the world’s third-largest economy by 2027.
Sitharaman emphasized the government’s policy reforms, including the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes, the National Infrastructure Pipeline (NIP), and the National Monetization Pipeline (NMP), aimed at strengthening India’s infrastructure and manufacturing.
The finance minister underlined key reforms like the Goods and Services Tax (GST), the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC), and liberalized Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) norms, fostering a stable regulatory environment.
India’s vibrant digital economy, with over 100 unicorns, was also spotlighted as a driver of innovation and investment. Sitharaman expressed confidence in India’s continued economic momentum, encouraging global investors to tap into the growing opportunities.
