Shooters bring in more gold, India wins first athletics medal
Nikhat Zareen seals olympic berth, Squash Men's Team advances to the final, and Kiran earns bronze in shot put.

India’s medal tally rises to 33 medals- 8 gold, 12 silver and 13 bronze after Indian shooters added a gold in the men's 50m rifle 3P and women's 10m air pistol as well as a silver in the women's 10m air pistol team and individual event at the Asian Games in Hangzhou on Friday, September 29.
17-year-old Palak Gulia fired to an individual gold medal with a Games record while Esha Singh won silver in the women's 10m air pistol event. Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, Swapnil Kushale and Akhil Sheoran took the gold medal in the men’s shooting team event, while Esha Singh, Palak, and Divya Thadigol took silver in the 10m women’s air pistol team event.
Saketh Myneni and Ramkumar Ramanathan lost the men's doubles tennis final and had to settle for silver. The mixed doubles final will be played tomorrow, featuring Rohan Bopanna and Rutuja Bhosale, who won their semifinal match.
Kiran Baliyan, 24, made history by winning a bronze medal in women's shot put, ending India's 72-year drought for a medal in the event at the continental multi-sport championship.Her best attempt of 17.36 meters, earned her her first career-defining medal. The bronze, was India’s first medal from Athletics at the Asian Games 2023.
Boxer Nikhat Zareen experienced double happiness as she defeated Jordan's Hanan Nazar in the quarterfinals to secure her spot in the Paris Olympics 2024 as well as a medal in the Asian Games. She won her fight in only 53 seconds by unanimous decision and will face Thailand’s Chuthamat Raksat on Sunday.
India defeated Malaysia to claim the finals spot in the squash men's team event. After establishing a commanding 2-0 lead in the match with his victory over Eain Yow NG, Saurav Ghoshal guaranteed India's entry into the final. He defeated Yow Ghoshal 3-1 (11-8, 11-6, 10-12, 11-3)
In the Basketball Women Group A Preliminary Round India defeated Mongolia 68-62 to get to 2-0.Pushpa Senthil Kumar led all scorers with 30 points for India,which is now ranked second in Group A, behind China, based on points differential.
