The DTribals Foundation, in partnership with the Consulate General of India in Chicago, presented JSP Foundation chairperson Shallu Jindal with the International Women of the Year Award at the Swadeshi Mela Indian American Trade Fair.
The award recognised her efforts to improve the lives of people in rural and tribal communities in the Indian states of Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand, and beyond. Somnath Ghosh, the Indian Consul General in Chicago, attended the opening ceremony as the event's chief guest.
In response to the honor, Jindal reaffirmed her dedication to improving the lives of Indian citizens. "I am deeply honoured to receive this honour, which is a testament to the collective efforts of the Team JSP Foundation. We remain committed to creating a brighter and more inclusive future of the underprivileged and socially vulnerable people of our Country and across the Globe. This recognition strengthens our resolve to continue to work tirelessly for those deprived and disadvantaged”.
Jindal, as chairperson of the JSP Foundation, has consistently advocated for a wide range of social causes, especially in Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Jharkhand, and other parts of India. These causes include, quality education, healthcare, skill development, women's empowerment, and social inclusion.
Jindal is well-known not only for her humanitarian work, but also as a world-class Kuchipudi danseuse who has contributed to increasing international understanding of Indian dance and culture. She has also served as the chairperson of National Bal Bhavan and the founder president of Young FICCI.
Presently, Jindal also serves as the chancellor of OP Jindal University in Chhattisgarh. She has received numerous prestigious awards, including the CSR Times Lifetime Achievement Award, the Golden Peacock Award in London, the Mahatma Gandhi Award, and the Ekalavya Award from CMO Asia in Singapore.
