‘Shaitaan’ collects US$ 2.6 million on Day 1

The Hindi-language film in Vikas Bahl's direction is an official remake of a Gujarati film 'Vash'.

Actors Ajay Devgn, R Madhavan and Jyotika starrer ‘Shaitaan’ has minted approximately US$ 2.64 million (INR 21.9 crore) gross collection at the global box office on its opening day. The supernatural horror thriller released on March 8, 2024. 



The film’s storyline and performances has reportedly resonated well with audiences. Movie trade analyst Taran Adarsh said in a post on X, "Drama. Thrills. Chills. Shock-value. All enveloped in a near-perfect, captivating plot. This is supernatural genre done right. Unpredictable twists and turns are a big plus."



The Hindi-language film in Vikas Bahl's direction is an official remake of a Gujarati film 'Vash'. It is jointly produced by Jio Studios, Devgn Films and Panorama Studios. Jio Studios has claimed in a social media post that the movie "sets box office on fire!" 



Along with the trio stars, the move also features Janki Bodiwala, and Anngad Raaj in lead roles. The story revolves around Ajay Devgn as Kabir Sethi and his family who are tormented by a mysterious stranger during a vacation. The family soon realizes they are in grave danger and the need to fight for their survival against the evil forces.

The film has its music composed by Amit Trivedi, consisting three tracks, Khushiyaan Bator Lo, Asia Main Shaitaan, and Shaitaan Theme. Sudhakar Reddy Yakkanti is the cinematographer of the film majorly shot in London, Mumbai and Mussoorie.

Actor Devgn was last seen in the film Bholaa. This film marks Jyotika's comeback to Hindi, after her debut in 1997 in Doli Saja Ke Rakhna. She recently played a lead role in Kaathal - The Core, along with actor Mammootty. 

Meanwhile, actor Madhavan was last seen in a Netflix Series, The Railway Men. Shaitaan marks a shift for the actor from his earlier films such as Rocketry: The Nambi Effect and Dhokha Round D Corner, which saw mixed results in 2022.
