Clinical psychologist Dr. Harmesh Kumar is gearing up for an unusual battle this month: simultaneously running for both a House and US Senate seat in California.

The race to replace the late Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s seat is hugely competitive, with Reps. Barbara Lee, Katie Porter, and Adam Schiff, all Democrats, leading the race. Former football player Steve Garvey, a Republican, is doing surprisingly well, and is pitched to come out victorious on Super Tuesday March 5.  California has a “top two” system: the candidates with the most votes — regardless of party — will go on to the general election on Nov. 5.
