The University of Michigan (U-M) has awarded Rishika Varma Kalidindi with the Moeller Award for her exceptional academic achievement, leadership, and commitment to social responsibility.

The award, presented by the CSE Graduate Committee, is named after U-M alum Christopher Moeller, a software developer dedicated to supporting higher education.

A first-year master’s student in computer science and engineering (CSE) student, Kalidindi has demonstrated computer science prowess, excelling in her coursework and research.

She is currently conducting research in the Order Lab under the guidance of Professor Ryan Huang, focusing on developing fault-tolerant systems.

Her work leverages advanced technologies such as Extended Berkeley Packet Filter (eBPF) to enhance software reliability. Her research contributions have already led to a co-authored paper submission to Operating Systems Design and Implementation (OSDI), a premier conference in computer systems.

Before joining U-M, Kalidindi, an IIT graduate from India, worked as a software engineer at Google, where she actively supported fellow interns, particularly those from underrepresented backgrounds.

At U-M, she continues to engage in initiatives that foster student success within and beyond the academic community.

The Moeller Award will provide Kalidindi with financial support to further her research while allowing her to continue her dedication to mentorship. As she considers pursuing a PhD, the recognition affirms her potential to make lasting contributions to academia and the tech industry, the University said.
