Clé de Peau Beauté, the esteemed luxury skincare and makeup brand, has announced the recipient of the Power of Radiance Awards 2024, Reshma Saujani, hailing from New York, US. These awards honor women who are actively championing girls' education in their communities, particularly in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) fields. Saujani has demonstrated unwavering dedication to empowering girls in computer science through her establishment of Girls Who Code, an international non-profit organization committed to bridging the gender gap in technology.

As the recipient of the Power of Radiance Awards 2024, Saujani will receive a grant to further bolster and expand the impact of her mission. In addition, she will lead the 20 Under 20 campaign alongside Clé de Peau Beauté.

With the largest decline in girls pursuing computer science occurring in middle and high school, this campaign aims to encourage girls to stay on the path toward STEM careers.

The initiative will provide 20 girls under 20 in the US with exclusive access to Clé de Peau Beauté's research facilities, scientists, mentorships, and grants to support their STEM pursuits.

Since its establishment in 2012, Girls Who Code has successfully developed the largest pipeline of female and non-binary computer scientists globally.

Over the past decade, the non-profit has reached over 500,000 students through its innovative programs. Remarkably, alumni from Girls Who Code have a seven-fold higher likelihood of earning computer science and related degrees compared to the national average in the US.

Saujani and Girls Who Code have set a bold mission to eliminate the gender gap in new entry-level tech positions by 2030. This goal is especially urgent given that the gap has widened by 13 percent compared to nearly three decades ago.

As a lawyer, politician, and civil servant, Saujani witnessed firsthand the stark gender disparity in computer science classrooms during her campaign for US Congress, where she found predominantly male enrollment.

This experience fueled her determination to drive a cultural shift to address the gender gap, a mission she continues to champion today as the Founder and CEO of Moms First.

"Showing these girls the beauty of STEM and connecting them with role models is of utmost importance as they make plans for their futures — it is what Girls Who Code is all about,” Saujani said. “After all, you can't be what you can't see. Today, only 28% of computing jobs are held by women. We all have a role to play in ensuring that we don't leave women and girls behind as we fill the jobs of the future, and Clé de Peau Beauté's Power of Radiance Awards is building momentum behind the cultural shift that's needed to close the gender gap in STEM."
