Indian-American Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi has condemned the recent violence in Bangladesh, including the brutal targeting of Hindus, and called for the forthcoming interim government to end the unrest and bring perpetrators to justice.
“As Bangladesh prepares to swear in its interim government, I urge all government officials, the new administration and police chief, and the people of Bangladesh to do all they can to end the violence that has emerged across the country, including the brutal targeting of the country’s Hindu minority, their homes, businesses, and their temples,” Krishnamoorthi said.
An interim government led by Nobel laureate Mohammad Yunus is set to take oath in Bangladesh on Aug.8. The United States has also stated its readiness to work with the interim government of Bangladesh led by Yunus.
Krishnamoorthi emphasized that the violence must cease and those responsible must be held accountable to help Bangladesh move forward as a nation. He added that he would continue to monitor the situation closely in coordination with the US State Department.
Indian American Lawmaker Ro Khanna too, condemned the violence saying, "PM Yunus must uphold the rule of law & prevent the targeting of temples or people of any political party or faith from violence."
Bangladeshi students had just human rights concerns against PM Hasina. It's good she is gone. But the violence now targeting Hindus is wrong. PM Yunus must uphold the rule of law & prevent the targeting of temples or people of any political party or faith from violence.

The violence in Bangladesh reached a peak on Aug.4, with 97 deaths reported as protesters marched to Dhaka, storming the Prime Minister’s residence and the parliament. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned on Aug.5 amid the violent protests and has since been relocated to a safe house at the Hindon airbase near Delhi, India.
