Actor Rajnikanth starrer Jailer has grossed over US$77 million worldwide and is expected to enter the US$78 million club soon, according to a Hindustan Times report. Trade analyst Manobala Vijayabalan tweeted that the Nelson Dilipkumar film has grossed around US$77 million within 26 days of its release. According to a post shared by him on X, formerly known as Twitter, Jailer grossed a massive US$ 54 million in the first week.
Jailer last month became the third Tamil movie to enter the US$60 million club, following S Shankar's Enthiran 2.0 in 2018 and Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan: 1 in 2022.
Recently, the Jailer team including actor Rajnikanth, director Nelson and music director Anirudh Ravichander were gifted luxury cars by the film's production house Sun Pictures, owned by Kalanithi Maran. Maran gifted a brand new BMW x7 to Rajnikanth; a Porsche car to director Nelson Dilipkumar and another to music director Anirudh Ravichander. The director and actor also received a cheque from Maran celebrating the success of the film.
The film features actors, including Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Tamannaah, Kannada superstar Shiva Rajkumar, Malayalam actor Mohanlal and Jackie Shroff. The film has been dubbed in Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.
This is Ravichander's third collaboration with actor Rajnikanth after Petta (2019) and Darbar (2020); and fourth collaboration with Nelson Dilipkumar after Kolamaavu Kokila (2018), Doctor (2021) and Beast (2022). The director has earlier bagged the best screenplay award in the Norway Tamil Film Festival for his directorial debut Kolamaavu Kokila. Jailer’s first single titled Kaavalaa featuring actor Tamannaah was released on July 6, 2023, and then the second Hukum - Thalaivar Alappara was released on July 17, 2023. The music album featuring eight tracks was released on July 28, 2023.
