According to a press statement, Subramaniam, responsible for providing strategic direction for FedEx, will be honoured along with 50 Asian American executives at a gala dinner on September 21 hosted by Cipriani Wall Street.

The AABDC has conferred the premier award to over 1,000 Asian American corporate executives and entrepreneurs. The Pinnacle Award has recognized a roster of C-Suite leaders behind major hands, the press statement revealed.

Speaking about the Pinnacle Award winners who continue to inspire Asian American professional community, John Wang, the president and founder of AABDC, said, “Raj Subramaniam of FedEx certainly meets and exceeds our criteria, and he has earned our admiration and appreciation for helming one of the most critical segments of the economy – the logistics and supply chains that keep our lives and businesses humming."

Subramaniam was born in Thiruvananthapuram, India. He earned his bachelor's degree in chemical engineering in 1987 from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay; and moved to the United States on a scholarship to Syracuse University and earned an MS in chemical engineering in 1989. He then completed his MBA from the University of Texas, Austin. He joined FedEx as an associate marketing analyst in 1991. After assuming various roles, he was promoted to the CEO of FedEx's Express business in late 2018 and then the chief operating officer (COO) in 2019. He joined the company's board in 2020.

AABDC, last year, honoured two Asian American female chief executives: Reshma Kewalramani, president and chief executive officer (CEO) of biotech company Vertex Pharmaceuticals; and Rose Lee, president and chief executive officer (CEO) of Cornerstone Building Brands Inc., the largest manufacturer of exterior building products in North America.
