Indian leader of Opposition, Rahul Gandhi is set to embark on a three-day visit to the United States from Sept.8, Indian Overseas Congress (IOC) chairman Sam Pitroda announced.

The visit aims to strengthen ties with the Indian diaspora and engage with leaders from the technology and business sectors.

In a video statement, Pitroda outlined the key events of the visit, which will commence in Dallas, Texas, on Sept.8.  "He (Gandhi) is coming to the US for a very brief visit. He will be in Dallas on September 8th and will be in Washington D.C. on September 9th and 10th," Pitroda said.

Pitroda detailed the Dallas leg of the trip, which will include interactions with students and academicians from the University of Texas, as well as a large community gathering with members of the Indian diaspora. “We will also meet some technocrats and have dinner with leaders from the Dallas area," Pitroda added.

Emphazing the growing interest in Gandhi's leadership and the significance of these interactions, Pitroda said, "Since Rahul Gandhi has become the Leader of the Opposition, I, as chairman of the Indian Overseas Congress, which has a presence in 32 countries, have been bombarded with requests from the Indian diaspora, diplomats, academicians, businessmen, leaders, and international media for interactions with Rahul Gandhi."

The visit comes at a time when the Congress party is focusing on building international alliances and strengthening ties with the global Indian community. "There are a lot of events planned with a variety of people because we find that people also have a lot of interest in the states we run with a Congress government, especially Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and hopefully Maharashtra – Mumbai, Pune," Pitroda noted, highlighting the attention Gandhi's visit has garnered from the business and technology communities.

Rahul Gandhi, a five-term MP, currently represents Rae Bareli in the Lok Sabha, a seat previously held by his mother, Sonia Gandhi. His political career has seen him play a pivotal role within the Congress party, and his international engagements are being closely watched, both at home and abroad.

"We look forward to a very successful visit and to welcoming Rahul Gandhi to the US," Pitroda concluded.
