Disneynature is launching a new documentary film centered around tigers in Asia on the occasion of World Earth Day on April 22, 2024. The film is set to be narrated by Los Angeles-based Indian actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas.

Chopra Jonas will narrate the story which will take viewers on a journey alongside Ambar, a young tigress raising her cubs in the well-known forests of India. The documentary film is scheduled to launch exactly 15 years after Disneynature’s first release ‘Earth.’

“It’s just wonderful to be able to be a part of something so special and to tell the story of this magnificent animal that comes from my country—I was very honored,” she said, in an official statement. “I have always loved tigers and I feel a kinship with the female tiger—I feel very protective of my family. Ambar’s journey is something I think every mom would really relate to,” she added.

The film deals with how Ambar does everything in her power to keep her playful and boisterous cubs safe from the dangers of the jungle including predators like pythons, bears, and male tigers who are known to attack and kill cubs that are not theirs.

The movie is directed by Mark Linfield, and co-directed by Vanessa Berlowitz and Roy Conli, over 1,500 days of filming fast-paced action sequences as well as intimate moments.

Aside from this documentary, Chopra Jonas’ upcoming projects include Russo Brothers' ‘The Bluff’ and ‘Heads of State’. She is also starring in Season 2 of Amazon Prime Video series ‘Citadel.’

Along with ‘Tiger,’ Disney+ will also stream ‘Tigers on the Rise,’ a documentary celebrating the remarkable improvement in tiger populations. “The heroes in this story are the vets, scientists and community patrols dedicated to ensuring that tigers and people can coexist,” the statement added.

The film will begin streaming on Disney+ starting April 22.
