Prabhas’s action-thriller Salaar, has collected 21.4 million worldwide on Day 1 of its release with approximately 11 million in India.
The pan-Indian movie, which is helmed by Prashanth Neel, is easily surpassing Shah Rukh Khan's Dunki at the box office. It features an ensemble cast including Prithviraj Sukumaran, Shruti Haasan, Jagapathi Babu, Tinnu Anand and Sriya Reddy in pivotal roles.
Neel, who is most known for his two KGF blockbusters, has primarily worked in the Kannada language sector, while Prabhas is still quite popular in the Telugu regions. After two consecutive hits with the Baahubali films, Prabhas hasn't had a single hit at the box office before Salaar.
The actor will next be seen in the dystopian thriller Kalki 2898 AD, starring Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan, and Amitabh Bachchan.
In the meanwhile, if Shah Rukh Khan's Dunki is to have any lasting effect, it will have to contend with quite unimpressive box office receipts and relatively mediocre reviews. Behind Jawan and Pathaan, the film had Shah Rukh's worst opening of the year, and it didn't even come close to beating director Rajkumar Hirani's Sanju.
