For 45 days, crores of devotees from various parts of the country arrived at the Sangam—the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati—to take a holy dip. The sheer scale of participation, nearly twice the population of the United States, set new records.
The Prime Minister added that besides the record participation, the active participation of the youth is a strong indication of their commitment to preserving India's cultural heritage. “The presence of young Indians at this Maha Kumbh shows that they are not just connected to tradition but are also ready to carry it forward,” he said.
PM Modi underlined the historical role of the Maha Kumbh in shaping India’s societal discourse. He stated that after 144 years, saints and scholars had once again provided a new vision—"Developed India – Viksit Bharat."
“For centuries, the Maha Kumbh has guided national consciousness. Today, it has given a new resolve for a developed India. This unity must now translate into action for nation-building,” he added.
Acknowledging the efforts of the Uttar Pradesh administration and the people of Prayagraj, the Prime Minister commended the seamless execution of the event. He credited Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and the administration for their role in ensuring a smooth experience for crores of pilgrims.
"From sanitation workers to security personnel, from boatmen to food servers—everyone contributed selflessly. The hospitality of Prayagraj’s residents, despite the challenges, was truly inspiring,” he said.
PM Modi also reiterated the importance of river conservation, linking it to national well-being. “Standing at the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati, my commitment to clean rivers has strengthened further,” he asserted.
As the Maha Kumbh concluded on Mahashivratri, PM Modi emphasized that its impact would go beyond the physical event. “Just as the Ganga flows eternally, the spirit of unity and national consciousness awakened by this Maha Kumbh will continue to inspire generations,” he said.
