PM Modi extends Navratri greetings, releases Garba song

Modi also offered prayers to Goddess Durga, seeking her blessings to bring happiness, prosperity, good fortune, and good health into the lives of all individuals.

On the first day of Navratri, Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted the people with greetings and best wishes for happiness, prosperity, and good health. “May Shakti Pradayini Maa Durga bring happiness, prosperity, good fortune, and good health in everyone’s life. Jai Mata Di!” PM Modi posted on X in Hindi.

The nine-day Navratri festival is a time when devotees worship Maa Durga's nine incarnations to seek her blessings. Each day of Navratri is associated with a specific goddess manifestation. During this period, people observe ritualistic fasts, recite shlokas dedicated to each goddess, don new attire, present bhog (offerings), and engage in the cleaning of their homes. In their prayers, they humbly request the goddess for her benevolence, with the aspiration of leading prosperous, joyful, and fulfilled lives.

On the occasion of Navratri, PM Modi also released a new Garba song titled "Maadi." Penned by Modi himself, the song is performed by Divya Kumar and composed by the Meet Bros. The video of the song was released on YouTube and X. “As the auspicious Navratri dawns upon us, I am delighted to share a Garba penned by me during the past week. Let the festive rhythms embrace everyone!” he said in a post on X.

Modi also thanked the singer and composer for their contributions to the Garba song. The four-minute, 40-second song, performed in Gujarati, features people dressed in colorful attire dancing at various Garba venues, with some participants using dandiya.
