PM Narendra Modi participated in the World Governments Summit in Dubai as the Guest of Honor on February 14 at the invitation of Sheikh Mohamed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister, Defence Minister, and the Ruler of Dubai.

He delivered the special keynote address at the Summit, themed: "Shaping the Future Governments."

In his address, PM Modi underlined India’s transformative reforms based on the mantra of "Minimum Government, Maximum Governance." He called for a human- centric approach to governance, detailing Indian experience on leveraging digital technology to further welfare, inclusivity, and sustainability.

In this context, the Prime Minister focused on prioritizing ease of living, justice, mobility, innovation and doing business in the government's approach to public service. He also highlighted India’s steadfast commitment to climate change action, urging people to adopt Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) to create a sustainable world.

The Prime Minister further elaborated on India's leadership role as the chair of G20 last year on different issues and challenges of mutual interest. He shed light on the country's efforts to bring development concerns facing the Global South to the center-stage of global discourse.

"Calling for reform of multilateral institutions, he pushed for a greater voice for the Global South in its decision making. India, he stressed, will continue to contribute to global progress based on its role as a "Vishwa Bandhu," the Prime Minister’s office said in a statement.

Taking to X, PM Modi shared admiration for Sheikh Mohamed bin Rashid. "His vision for Dubai’s growth is clearly visible to the entire world. Our discussions covered a wide range of subjects ranging from commerce to connectivity, and ways to boost people to people linkages," he posted.

Both leaders also held discussions on a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation, including trade, investment, technology, space, education and people-to-people ties.

The Prime Minister previously attended the World Governments Summit in 2018 as the guest of honor.  This year's summit saw the participation of 20 world leaders, including 10 Presidents and 10 Prime Ministers. Furthermore, delegates from over 120 countries participated at the global gathering.
