Physician or lawmaker, duty first is the motto

From an early age, a profound sense of empathy was instilled in me, a quality that continues to drive my professional and personal endeavors.

I am a long-standing resident of New Jersey, deeply rooted in my community for over two decades. Nandini, my wife for 33 years, and I have raised two accomplished sons. One has embarked on his path as a quantum engineer, while the other has pursued a career as a lawyer.

Driven by an earnest desire to enact systemic change and improve the lives of people, I won the Republican nomination to represent New Jersey’s 3rd Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives. I am the first physician and cardiologist to have won the nomination of the Republican party from New Jersey. I am also the first Indian-American to win the nomination for the US House of Representatives from any major political party in the state of New Jersey.

Central to my character are the foundational values instilled by my parents, Janak and Aryma, which emphasize diligence, integrity, and a commitment to service and justice. These principles have shaped me into a resilient individual, unwavering in my pursuit of what is right and dedication to effecting positive change. From an early age, a profound sense of empathy was instilled in me, a quality that continues to drive my professional and personal endeavors. I follow the teachings of my parents to never take anything for granted, always work hard, and leave nothing to chance.

Hailing from a lineage of legal, medical, and engineering professionals, my innate calling led me to medicine. Guided by the philosophy of "Service before Self," the motto of my high school, I have dedicated myself to serving people as a cardiologist, specializing as an Interventional Cardiologist, earning quadruple board certifications and with over two decades of experience serving people and communities.

I also hold an MBA and serve as the President and Managing Partner of a prominent multi-specialty medical practice. I have taken on diverse responsibilities in the medical field, notably as Chief Medical Officer of a New Jersey hospital, Chairman of the Department of Medicine, and Assistant Professor in New Jersey and New York medical centers.

Under my leadership as CMO, the hospital underwent a remarkable transformation from mediocrity to excellence within a year. It expanded its services and implemented innovative programs and cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, tailored to better serve patients and the community's needs. This strategic overhaul elevated the quality of care and yielded substantial improvements in the hospital's financial performance, demonstrating my abilities at navigating complex challenges while delivering tangible results. In the area of healthcare reform, my business acumen will help Congress resolve the complex problem of unaffordable healthcare.

During the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, I along with my colleagues tended to patients on the frontlines, as well as CMO navigated multiple surges of the crisis, ensuring the safety of hospital staff.

Over the years, I have mentored and trained several aspiring healthcare professionals, in the process gaining firsthand insights into the far-reaching impact of policy decisions on individuals' lives. This reinforced my commitment to advocating policies prioritizing constituents' well-being.

I will bring intellect and integrity to the House of Representatives and serve people,  especially the residents of Burlington, Mercer and Monmouth Counties with the same perseverance as the physician I am.

My peers and patients have endorsed me--the best endorsement anyone can get; so have several congressmen and elected officials from surrounding communities who recognize and welcome my commitment and capability to improve the future of New Jersey and our country.
