Photo Feature: Indian missions around the world celebrate Independence Day

The diaspora actively participated in the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign initiated by the Indian Prime Minister as well as the 'Meri Maati Mera Desh' which is a unified celebration of India's soil and valour, commemorating the nation's journey of freedom and progress.

As India celebrates its 77th Indepence Day, the Indian diaspora in various countries marked the occasion by hosting and organizing several events like flag Hositing and cultural programmes.

The High Commission of India in Canberra hosted an Independence Day reception that was attended by political dignitaries, members of Diplomatic Corps, senior government officials and esteemed members of Indian diaspora. High Commissioner, Manpreet Vohra addressed the gathering which was followed by cultural performances.

Ambassador Sibi George hoisted the national flag and read out the President's address to the community members present. Children sang patriotic songs on the occasion of 77th Independence Day.

Canada

For the first time, official celebrations were conducted in Calgary, Alberta, with India's Consul General in Vancouver, Manish, flying there for the occasion. Alberta Premier Danielle Smith attended the festivities and spoke to an Indo-Canadian gathering.

UK

The Minister stood with Attendees at the event.

Indian Independence Day was celebrated grandly at the Cardiff Castles in Wales, UK. Indian honorary consul Raj Aggarwal and was joined by Welsh assembly minister Jane Hutt, Cardiff deputy Lord mayor Jane Henshaw and senior officers from the armed forces, police and community leaders for the celebrations.

Acting Consul General Ramkumar Thangaraj hoisted the National Flag at the Consulate of India in Dubai. Performances by school students, Kalaripayattu martial artists and performing artists was part of the event.
