Origis Energy, leading renewable energy and decarbonization solution platform in the US, has promoted Vikas Anand to chief executive officer (CEO) with immediate effect.
This comes as Guy Vanderhaegen, Origis Energy founder, CEO, and president, is moving into a new role of executive chairman.
"We are proud to have Vikas move into the CEO role," said Vanderhaegen. "In this relatively short time, he has made a significant contribution to our ability to scale for efficient growth and generate investor value."
Anand joined the firm in August 2023 as chief operating officer and chief financial officer.
According to Kevin Genieser, managing partner and head of the New York office of Antin Infrastructure Partners, a majority shareholder in Origis Anand’s promotion to CEO “provides a strong foundation for the company's growth and operational execution."
"Vikas has moved swiftly to refine the Origis strategy and add operational capabilities while strengthening relationships with investors and financing partners,” Genieser stated.
With a decade-long track record in the renewable energy industry, Anand has extensive strategic, operational, and financial skills. Before joining Origis, he served as the co-founder and sponsor at GoGreen Investments, which completed a successful merger with Lifezone Metals, a clean battery metals company.
Previously, he worked at General Electric as CEO of GE Renewable Energy – Onshore Wind Americas. He led the business to deliver US $7.5 billion in revenues in 2020, nearly doubling its market share to 53 percent. Furthermore, he also served as the chief financial officer of GE Onshore Wind and Investment Committee member of GE Capital's Energy Financial Services.
The Indian American has been a member of the executive committee of the board of the American Clean Power Association (ACPA) and a founding member of its Diversity & Inclusion Industry Task Force. Anand completed his MBA from Columbia Business School – New York and Chartered Accountancy certification in India.
Meanwhile, Origis was named among the top 10 US clean energy developers in the American Clean Power Annual Market Report 2023. Since its launch, Origis has developed over 250 projects.
