Indian finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman promoted disaster-resilient infrastructure at the World Bank and IMF Annual Meetings 2024 in Washington DC on such-and-such day.
Chaired by her, the roundtable focused on improving disaster-resilient infrastructure. She also emphasized India’s leadership in the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI), an initiative led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stressing the need for infrastructure that can withstand natural disasters and address climate change challenges.

The session brought together ministers and senior officials from several nations, including Zambia, Bhutan, and Madagascar, to discuss the growing need for climate-adaptive infrastructure in the face of increasing natural disasters.
The roundtable concluded with a shared commitment to advancing disaster risk reduction strategies, bolstering infrastructure resilience, and fostering international cooperation to combat climate challenges.
