In a tribute to Bollywood’s King of Disco, Bappi Lahiri, his son Bappa B Lahiri collaborated with Indian-origin singer Shannon K to produce a revamped version of the hit, “Jimmy Jimmy Jimmy Aaja.”
The iconic song was part of the Bollywood hit dance film, ‘Disco Dancer’ released in 1982, starring actor Mithun.
Based in LA, Shannon is an award-winning actor and singer, and the daughter of leading Bollywood singer Kumar Sanu. She expressed her honor in sharing the moment with Bappi Lahiri before his passing in 2022.
Shannon shared her excitement about the project in a statement, noting, “It’s like a dream come true.”
The remake, titled “Jimmy Jimmy,” adds modern touches while staying true to the original song’s core. It also honors Bappi Lahiri, who revolutionized India’s music industry in the ‘70s by introducing synth and disco music.
Shannon said, “It’s not just a song; it’s a celebration of Bappi Lahiri sir’s life and music.”
Lahiri passed away on February 15, 2022, at the age of 69. His death was attributed to obstructive sleep apnea and post-COVID-19 complications.
