Nikki Haley received the endorsement of New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu on December 13. His endorsement comes six weeks ahead of the ‘First in the Nation Primary’ to be held in the state on January 23.

@NikkiHaley is the real deal. She's tough, she's smart, and she has a conservative record of getting things done to deliver for families. I'm all in for Nikki Haley for President,” Sununu said in a post on X.

The latter also authored an opinion piece published on Union Leader website further elaborating on his choice. Urging the voters in his state to also vote for Haley, he wrote, “We must support the best conservative candidate in this race who can win in November 2024 to deliver results in 2025.”

“Granite Staters will head to the polls in record numbers and uphold our 100-year responsibility of hosting the First in the Nation Primary. We have an obligation to get it right — and Nikki Haley is the best person for the job,” he asserted.

Haley responded to the endorsement with a post on X that read, “Granite Staters, you’ve put your faith in Gov. @ChrisSununu for 4 terms and he’s never let you down. We’re honored to have his support and look forward to barnstorming the state ahead of the #FITN primary. Let’s go win this and make Joe Biden a one-term president!”

Republican presidential candidates were lobbying for Sununu’s endorsement after he declined to seek the GOP’s presidential nomination in June. The latter revealed his decision to back Haley at her town hall event in Manchester on December 12.

“To see her out there, to see her connecting with folks, to feel that momentum, it is real and it is tangible," Sununu said at the event.

“It doesn’t get any better than this. To go and get endorsed by the ‘Live Free or Die’ governor is about as rock solid of an endorsement as we could hope for,” she said, according to a report.

Sununu, like Haley, is a critic of former President Donald Trump. In a June interview with CNN, Sununu said Trump will not win the November 2024 elections. “He wouldn’t even win Georgia,” he said at the time.
