Microsoft has once again merged its Windows and Surface teams internally, with IIT Madras alumni Pavan Davuluri appointed to lead development on both fronts, according to reports from Windows Central, a source closely tracking Microsoft's developments.

This move follows a temporary separation between the two units, during which Windows fell under Microsoft's new AI organization. The reintegration signals a return to the previous structure within Microsoft's Engineering and Devices organization, overseen by Rajesh Jha.
Pavan Davuluri, who previously supervised Microsoft's hardware division, will now oversee Windows engineering as well, in a reshuffle prompted by the departure of former Windows and Surface chief Panos Panay last September. Panay's responsibilities have been divided between Davuluri and Mikhail Parakhin.
Parakhin, in addition to his role as CEO of Web and Advertising at Microsoft, has taken charge of Windows, overseeing products such as Bing, Edge, and Copilot.
