India's shooting prowess was on display on the fourth day of the Asian Games 2023, held on September 27 in Hangzhou, China, as the country brought home seven medals total, including two gold, three silver, and two bronze.
Sift Kaur Samra secured gold in the women’s 50m rifle 3 positions with a world record-breaking performance, surpassing the previous record by 2.6 points, Ashi Chouksey added a bronze in the same event.
Manu Bhaker, Esha Singh, and Rhythm Sangwan claimed gold in the women’s 25m pistol team event, while Singh earned a silver in the individual event. Anantjeet Singh Naruka won silver in the men's skeet, and his team with Gurjoat Singh Khangura, and Angad Vir Singh Bajwa settled for a bronze.
In the men's dinghy - ILCA7 sailing event, Vishnu Saravanan clinched the bronze medal. The 24-year-old sailor won India's third sailing medal. Saravanan’s tally included three race victories.
Roshibina Devi Naorem won in the semifinals of the women's 60kg wushu event. The 22-year-old athlete defeated two-time world championship medallist Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy of Vietnam 2-0. Naorem will face off against China's Wu Xiaowei in the gold medal match.
Two-time world champion, Nikhat Zareen, secured her spot in the women's 50kg quarter-finals. She defeated the Republic of Korea's Chorong Bak.
Indian tennis duo Ramkumar Ramanathan and Saketh Myneni claimed a victory against Wu Yibing and Zhang Zhizhen of China, winning 6-1, 7-6 in the men's doubles quarter-final. They are guaranteed at least a bronze medal.
