‘Manjummel Boys' bags Best Music Award at Kino Bravo International Film Festival

The Indian Malayalam language movie surpassed 2 Billion US$(₹200 crore) globally, solidifying its status as a blockbuster hit in India.

Malayalam blockbuster ‘Manjummel Boys’ was awarded the Best Music award at the Kino Bravo International Film Festival, Sochi, Russia. 

Directed by Chidambaram, the survival thriller was the only Indian film in competition in the best music category, and was screened on Oct 1.

The film's music, composed by Sushin Shyam, was a standout feature, contributing to its success both in India and abroad. Shyam, known for his compelling soundtracks, shared the news on Instagram, expressing gratitude for the recognition. 

Manjummel Boys’, inspired by true events, follows a group of friends from Manjummel, Ernakulam, Kerala, on a leisure trip to Kodaikanal. A mishap leads to one of the friends becoming trapped in a cave, sparking a tense rescue mission. The film has grossed over 2 billion US$globally (₹200 crore).

At the festival, the film competed alongside notable films like “How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies” from Thailand, “Fossil” from Iran, and “Hans Crosses the Rubicon” from South Africa.

Additionally, Shyam announced that his scores for ‘Manjummel Boys’ and ‘Aavesham’ have been submitted for Grammy consideration. 

Other Indian entries at the festival included Payal Kapadia’s ‘All We Imagine As Light’, screened in the Out of Competition: Festival Hits category, and ‘RRR’ (2022), showcased in the Out of Competition Blockbusters category.
