In a significant development, MakeMyTrip, a prominent online Indian travel platform, has expanded its global reach to over 150 countries, including major travel markets like the UK, Germany, Japan, Italy, and France.

This expansion aligns with the government’s Chalo India Global Diaspora Campaign, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The campaign seeks to enlist the support of the Indian diaspora in promoting tourism by encouraging their non-Indian acquaintances to visit India.

Announcing the expansion, Rajesh Magow, MakeMyTrip's co-founder and CEO, emphasized that the expansion aims to facilitate inbound travel to India. “Our global accessibility will help us reach the vast Indian diaspora,” he said.

“Importantly, this expansion will enable us to cater to a broader audience, fostering increased inbound travel to India. Our extensive coverage, offering accommodations in more than 2000 cities, will assist international tourists in discovering the hidden gems of India,” he added.

Magow acknowledged the trust and support from Indian travelers, underscoring MakeMyTrip's commitment to maintaining high standards. Our global accessibility will help us reach the vast Indian diaspora. Importantly, this expansion will enable us to cater to a broader audience, fostering increased inbound travel to India. The platform currently offers transactions in USD, AED, or INR.

PM Modi's initiative seeks to leverage the influence of overseas Indians in bolstering India's tourism sector. During the launch, the PM inaugurated various tourism-related projects and announced initiatives aimed at enhancing India's tourism landscape.

The expansion of MakeMyTrip's global reach and the launch of PM Modi's Chalo India campaign signify concerted efforts to promoting tourism and engaging with the Indian diaspora to harness the full potential of India’s tourism sector.
