Madhuri Dixit recognized for contribution to Indian cinema at IFFI
Dixit was a prominent actress in Hindi cinema during the 1980s, 90s, and early 2000s and has been honored with six Filmfare Awards.

Madhuri Dixit received the "Special Recognition for Contribution to Bharatiya Cinema" award at the 54th International Film Festival of India. Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting and Youth Affairs and Sports, Anurag Singh Thakur, along with MoS Information and Broadcasting, Dr. L. Murugan, and Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, announced the award.
“An icon across the ages, @MadhuriDixit has graced our screens with unparalleled talent for four incredible decades. From the effervescent Nisha to the captivating Chandramukhi, the majestic Begum Para to the indomitable Rajjo, her versatility knows no bounds,” Thakur said in a post on X.
“Today, we are filled with admiration as we present the 'Special Recognition for Contribution to Bharatiya Cinema' Award to the talented, charismatic actress who has redefined excellence in cinema, at the 54th International Film Festival of India. A celebration of an extraordinary journey, a tribute to an everlasting legacy,” he added.
Dixit, a prominent actress in Hindi cinema during the 1980s, 90s, and early 2000s, has been honored with six Filmfare Awards and holds a record of fourteen nominations for the Filmfare Award for Best Actress. Making her film debut in 'Abodh' (1984), Dixit gained widespread recognition with the success of 'Tezaab' (1988). In 2014, she was appointed the UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador in India.
