Long Island Indians host blanket donation drive
They distributed over 350 blankets to various local organizations this season

The Long Island Indo-American Lions Club during their recent monthly meeting, distributed blankets to help the community survive the freezing winter. The donation was organized as part of their ‘Spread the Warmth’ project led by Sanju Sharma, project chair and co-chair Anchit Aery.
The Disabled American Veterans, All War Veterans homeless veterans, the Social Services Department of Nassau County, homeless shelters, the Roosevelt Bible Church distribution center, and the Martin Luther King Center of Long Island were the recipient organizations.
“It is really hard to imagine someone surviving the bitter frigid cold weather without a warm wrap or blanket,” Sharma said during the event and called on the representatives of each organization to introduce themselves to the gathering.
Further, Sharma thanked Club president Shyam Gajwani, founder president –Indu Gajwani, sr. vice president- Kanak Golia, vice president- Anju Sharma, treasurer Vijay Shah, co-chair Anchit Aeryand the rest of the team for their help in organizing the donation drive.
Blankets collected to be distributed / Long Island Indo-American lions ClubThe Lions Club with their motto "WE SERVE" has previously carried out several charitable projects for underprivileged under the leadership of president Shyam Gajwani. “Our Club members find it an extremely humbling experience, while spreading the warmth during this challenging season,” a release from the club stated.
According to the release, the second phase of the project distributed more blankets to Pamanock Queens community Center, United Methodist Church, Town of Oyster Bay.
