Lal Salaam teaser out; set to release in January 2024
The film will feature an extended cameo appearance by Rajinikanth

The teaser of Lal Salaam, a sports drama film directed by Aishwarya Rajinikanth has been released. The film is scheduled to release in January 2024, coinciding with Pongal festival.
Marking Aishwarya’s come-back to feature film direction eight years after Vai Raja Vai, the film stars actor Rajinikanth as Moideen Bhai, in an extended cameo appearance along with actors Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth in lead roles. Rajinikanth was last seen in Jailer, a Nelson Dilipkumar direction released in August 2023.
The opening shot sets the scene of a cricket match in a village and then features a communal clash. Rajinikanth is heard saying, "You have mixed religion with sports and have poisoned the minds of the children." Vishnu Vishal plays the role of a cricketer in the film.
The film is produced by Subaskaran Allirajah under the banner Lyca Productions. The distribution rights are backed by Red Giant Movies. It also features actors Senthil, Jeevitha, Thambi Ramaiah, Ananthika Sanilkumar, Vivek Prasanna, and Thangadurai.
The movie was announced in November 2022, along with its title. Its principal photography commenced in March 2023 and wrapped in August 2023. The film has music composed by A R Rahman, while cinematography is handled by Vishnu Rangasamy and editing by B Pravin Baaskar.
A R Rahman shared the teaser on social media. "Happy to unveil the teaser for "Lal Salaam," a captivating tale that explores life, sports, faith, and humanity. Directed by Aiswarya Rajnikanth, featuring a grand guest appearance by Superstar," Rahman tweeted.
