Indian ace shuttler, Lakshya Sen was eliminated from the All England Open Badminton Championships after a hard-fought semi-final loss to Indonesia's Jonatan Christie.

After losing the first game 12-21, the Indian put up a strong fight in the second to  win it 21-10 and force the match into a decider. Sen was dominant in the second game, taking a 17-4 lead at one point and winning the game without breaking a sweat.

However he fell short in the final match 15-21.  With the win, Christie of Indonesia set up a final matchup with fellow countryman Anthony Sinisuka Ginting.

After overcoming Malaysian Lee Zii Jia in three games during Friday's quarterfinal, Sen advanced to the semifinals. He won the second game 21-16 and the third game 21-19 to complete the 71-minute match after losing the opening game 20-22 in the quarterfinal.

Sen trailed 2-8 against World No. 4 Anders Antonsen in the final third game in Birmingham on Thursday before defeating Denmark's fourth seed 20-22, 21-13, 21-11 in a 78-minute thriller. The 21-year-old  won men's singles gold at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, but has subsequently struggled to regain form after nasal surgery hampered his progress in late 2022.

The three Indians who competed on Thursday all lost, leaving Lakshya as the lone Indian in action on Friday. Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, fresh from winning the French Open last week, were eliminated, as was PV Sindhu, who was defeated by South Korea's An Se Young.
