A new poll shows that in the crucial swing state of Pennsylvania, current President Joe Biden is 9 points behind former President Donald Trump. The poll conducted by Emerson College, Trump has the support of 45 percent of Pennsylvania voters, while Biden has only 36 percent.
“Biden leads Trump 44 percent to 39 percent among voters under 40, however those under 30 within this group break for Trump 45 percent to 39 percent,” said Spencer Kimball, executive director of Emerson College polling. The poll also found that 11 per cent of the voters plan to vote for someone else on the ballot while 8 per cent of those surveyed are yet to decide on their choice of candidate.
According to the results, half of Trump’s voters (50 percent) say they can not think of anything that the embattled former President might do in the next several months that would push them to withdraw their support for him in the race for President 2024. However, 22 percent of his current supporters can think of scenarios that would make them switch their vote.
In the case of Biden, a larger sum of his supporters say they cannot think of anything that would make them change their mind about voting for him in the elections, while 17 percent said he could do something that would make them change their minds.
Respondents were also asked whether the 2016 and 2020 elections were won by Trump and Biden fair and square or if they suspected election fraud. A majority of respondents said Trump won fair and square in 2016, while 52 percent said the same about Biden in 2020. Twenty percent said Trump stole the 2016 election, while 34 percent said Biden stole the 2020 election.
