International leaders and embassies send Diwali greetings to India

Dignitaries from across the world including US President Joe Biden, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese extended wishes on Diwali.

On the occasion of Diwali, the festival of lights, celebrated in India and by the Indian diaspora worldwide, a number of world leaders and international embassies sent their best wishes. Several world leaders like Donald Trump, Joe Biden, Benjamin Netanyahu, and others took to social media to extend their warm wishes for Diwali.

Former President Donald Trump, the Republican presidential contender, wished everyone a happy Diwali on Truth Social and X, and pledged to deepen relations with India, calling Prime Minister Narendra Modi a close companion. He claimed that both his Democratic opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, and her boss, President Joe Biden, have disregarded Hindus in America and around the world.
 



US President Joe Biden sent out Diwali congratulations before he leaves office in January of next year following the election on November 5.
 



For Diwali 2023, President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden celebrated at the White House with a ceremony that highlighted the festival’s core values of unity, light, and wisdom. The Bidens lit a traditional Diya, symbolizing Diwali's message of overcoming darkness with love and enlightenment. In a message shared on social media, President Biden expressed his respect and admiration for the South Asian community's contributions to the United States.
 



Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister of Israel, also wished Indians a happy Diwali and sent greetings to his Indian counterpart. He expressed his wish for India-Israel relations to keep getting stronger.
 



In his wishes, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer referred to Diwali as a "time of coming together" and a "moment to fix our eyes on the light which always triumphs over darkness." He also shared a photo of himself at his home at 10 Downing Street on Diwali.
 



In a post in Hindi, UAE Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum wished everyone a happy and lovely Diwali.
 



Diwali is an incredibly beautiful celebration of faith and culture, according to Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, who also called it a festival of joy, hope, and togetherness.
 



Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz wished "his friend" and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar a happy Diwali.
 



May-Elin Stener, the Norwegian ambassador to India, sent Diwali greetings in Hindi and English.
